MEET KEVIE
Kevie’s life, both pre-and post-stroke, has had plenty of variety in life. She has taught, owned her own bookstore and is an artist. She learned how to make pottery using one hand and has sold her work locally.
While she no longer can easily do many of her previous hobbies and interests, Kevie stays motivated, wanting to have fun and enjoy her family. She participates in most of the activities offered at RMSC, including gardening. “I was terrible,” she says. She enjoys art therapy, the Young Enthusiastic Stroke Survivors (YESS) group, and playing miniature golf.
Kevie rode a stationary recumbent bike at the July Riding for Rehab event held at Mountainside Fitness Center in Lone Tree. She says that Rocky Mountain Stroke Center takes care of survivors more than any other organization she knows of. “The people there give us 100% all the time! I cannot imagine what my life would be like without their support and focus on the many ways to help us.”
She says one of her biggest accomplishments is that she is still alive. “It is a lifetime of learning – relearning – what you already know.”
